Four (4) credits of Mathematics are required for graduation.
The TI-83 or 84 Plus graphing calculator is required for all Math courses.
Two accelerated sequenced courses (3171 and 3271) are available for students who meet strict requirements and who wish to reach advanced Math courses by their junior and senior years. Summer school courses are also available for advancement if students meet strict requirements.
Freshmen level courses are assigned based on a combination of scores from the Entrance Exam and Challenge Test.
All Mathematics courses require Mathematics Department approval.

Prepares students for Algebra I. Reviews expressions, operations and equations involving integers, rational numbers, and decimals. Introduces some concepts of mathematical functions, graphing and geometry. Gives credit towards the Math graduation requirement but is not recognized as a college prep course.

Provides a study of algebraic operations, equations, proportional reasoning, linear functions, inequalities, polynomials, rational functions and radicals.

Provides a study of algebraic operations, equations, proportional reasoning, linear functions, inequalities, polynomials, rational functions, and radicals. This is a remedial class only.

Provides a study of logical mathematical systems and reasoning, basic geometric concepts, triangles, congruency, parallel and perpendicular lines, polygons, similarity, area and volume, circles and spheres, constructions and trigonometry. Includes an enrichment of material, such as additional work on proofs, and an acceleration of material.
Prerequisite: Algebra I (grade of 90% or higher both semesters and department approval), or Algebra I H (grade of 80% or higher both semesters), or specific math scores on Entrance Exam and the Algebra I Challenge Test.
Combines Algebra I, Geometry and Algebra II into a two-year accelerated sequence at the honors level. This course is the first year in the sequence and combines elements of Algebra I and Geometry. For highly motivated and talented students who have had some Algebra I and who want to reach Calculus as seniors.
Prerequisites: specific math scores on Entrance Exam and the Algebra I Challenge Test.
Completes the second year in the two year accelerated honors sequence that combines Algebra I H, Geometry H and Algebra II H. The course completes Geometry concepts that were started during the first course. During the remainder of the year, Algebra II H coursework is completed. This is a Calculus preparatory class for students who plan to take AP Calculus AB as seniors. For highly motivated and talented students who have successfully completed Geometry H with Algebra I H (course 3171) as freshmen may apply for this course.
Prerequisite: Geometry H with Algebra I H (grade of 80% or higher).
Continues the study of Algebra, with a detailed review of Algebra I, solving single and multi-variable equations and inequalities, functions, both polynomial and rational, quadratics, radicals, exponential and logarithmic functions, and complex numbers. This satisfies the Salpointe Catholic HS graduation requirement as the fourth credit of math. Satisfies Arizona Universities as 3rd year of math (Algebra I or above).
Prerequisite: Successful completion of Algebra I and Geometry.

Recommended to fulfill fourth year of Math requirement.

Develops a study of mathematical functions and their graphs in preparation for Calculus, including polynomial and rational functions, exponential and
logarithmic functions, systems of equations and matrices, sequences and series, probability and counting, polar and parametric equations, analytic geometry, trigonometry and limits. Recommended to fulfill fourth year of Math requirement.
Prerequisite: Algebra II H (grade of 80% or higher or department approval).
Introduces students to the fundamental concepts of modern statistics, including data, probability, normal distributions and hypothesis testing. Applies mathematics concepts to real world situations. Topics include social decision-making, graph theory, counting, probability, matrices, and modeling.
Prerequisite: Pre-calculus (grade of 70% or higher) or Pre-calculus H (grade of 70% or higher).
Develops the study of differential and integral calculus, including such topics as limits and continuity, derivatives of elementary functions, L’Hopital’s rule, velocity acceleration in linear motion, techniques of integration by parts, area between curves, volume of a solid revolution, and the Fundamental Theorem.
Prerequisite: Pre-calculus with Trigonometry H (grade of 70% or higher) or Pre-calculus with Trigonometry (grade of 80% or higher) or department approval.
